Aussies take control of their water supply with reliable, affordable rainwater tanks. Proudly based in the Northern Rivers, we’ve grown to become a trusted supplier of high-quality poly and steel tanks across Brisbane and surrounding areas.
Choosing a Rainwater Tank for Brisbane
Choose capacity from your connected roof area, intended water use, available space and delivery access—not annual rainfall alone. A slimline tank can suit a narrow side passage, while a round tank may suit a larger yard or acreage. Check tank width, height and maintenance clearance before ordering.
Bureau of Meteorology station Brisbane 040913 reports mean annual rainfall of 1,055.9 mm, using 19 available years within 1999–2026 (latest data 15 October 2026). February’s mean is higher than September’s; storage needs to bridge drier spells. This station average is not a guarantee for your property.
Illustration: 25 mm of rain over 160 m² of connected roof gives 4,000 litres before losses. At an assumed 80% collection efficiency, about 3,200 litres could reach the tank, provided sufficient empty storage is available.
Brisbane tank placement and household connections
Check planning and building requirements before choosing a position. Brisbane City Council identifies building-approval triggers including tanks within 450 mm of a boundary, over 2.4 m high including a stand, or over 5 m long. Other triggers can apply. Your building certifier and licensed local plumber should confirm requirements for your property and connections.
Toilet, washing-machine and town-water backup connections need appropriate plumbing arrangements, including backflow protection where required. Keep tank screens and first-flush devices maintained, and plan lawful overflow drainage.
Brisbane City Council does not recommend rainwater for drinking or cooking. Use its rainwater tank approval guide and tank ownership advice before work begins. Checked 21 October 2026.
